The instrument panels in the 8P variants of the Audi A3 and Audi S3 are prone to common failures. These issues often result in a complete loss of instruments and LCDs, as well as the inability to start the vehicle. When diagnosing the problem, you may find multiple fault codes for CAN communication, along with the dreaded '0003 Control Module Defective' code stored within the instrument cluster.
A less commonly seen fault unrelated to the above is that LEDs may remain illuminated even after the vehicle is turned off and the key removed.
