Instrument Cluster Repair

Common Faults

The automotive instrument cluster is a panel located behind the steering wheel that displays important information about the vehicle's performance, such as speed, fuel level, engine temperature, and RPM. It usually consists of a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and warning lights for various vehicle systems like the battery, oil pressure, and check engine. The cluster may also include additional features like a trip computer, navigation display, or audio controls. Overall, the instrument cluster is an essential component of the vehicle that helps the driver stay informed and aware of their surroundings while driving.

Dashboard Inoperative

No warning lights, no display, no backlights, and, in most cases, non-start symptoms are all caused by a failure within the Instrument Cluster resulting in the Instrument Cluster not powering up when the ignition is turned on.

This type of failure is common during times of sudden temperature change and our expert testing process is able to simulate this to pinpoint the failure and repair it, allowing you back on the road with a fully operational Instrument Cluster.

LCD Failure

All modern vehicles encompass some form of LCD to give the driver real-time data. These screens come in different shapes and sizes from small displays placed below the speedometer and revolution gauges to the whole instrument cluster being presented on an LCD. All of the types of Instrument Cluster LCDs go faulty and VCUS has a wide variety of screens in stock to get your Instrument Cluster repaired.

Non-Start caused by Instrument Cluster

You may be experiencing an issue common with Ford Instrument Cluster failure or Audi Instrument Cluster Failure. This type of failure can affect the CAN BUS circuit of the vehicle, interfering with how all the Control Modules of the car interact with each other. The vehicle will send specific immobilizer data over the CAN network, if this is missing due to an instrument cluster failure, the vehicle will become inoperable until the Instrument Cluster has been repaired.

If you are experiencing this then you may also find that you have fault codes such as U1900 CAN Communication Bus Fault - Recieve Error or other codes relating to missing keys such as 01176 - Key Signal or P1570 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer.

LED Failure

Missing warning lights are a common symptom on dashboards. these are not always picked up by the driver of the vehicle but will be picked up during an MOT test.

If you aren't experiencing the above failure, you may be experiencing dim LEDs lit up on the instrument cluster, when other LEDs such as indicator lights are activated. This is another common fault on dashboards, over a wide variety of vehicle manufacturers and VCUS is able to repair both of these types of failures.
